Hey there! I’m Felecia McAbee, your guide to the wild, wonderful world of fermentation. If you’ve ever dreamed of crafting your own sourdough, sauerkraut, or kombucha—or just wondered if you could—I’m here to tell you: you absolutely can!

 

But let me be real with you: my journey into fermentation wasn’t all sunshine and perfectly bubbly jars. I’ve had my fair share of flops—exploding jars, rock-hard bread, you name it. Those “oops” moments didn’t discourage me, though—they inspired me. They taught me valuable lessons, gave me a healthy sense of humor, and most importantly, sparked a passion to help others skip some of those same missteps.

My Story

 

Why Fermentation?

It all began with balsamic vinegar. Years ago, I discovered the incredible health benefits of fermented foods, and balsamic vinegar became my gateway ferment. That fascination grew into something bigger—so big, in fact, that it led me to open Branch and Vines, my olive oil and balsamic vinegar store that’s still thriving today. (Psst—if you’re not in the mood to make everything from scratch, Branch and Vines has plenty of ready-to-enjoy fermented goodies!)

My Passion and Promise

Fermentation has completely transformed how I see food and health, and I love sharing that transformation with others. My goal is to make fermentation approachable, fun, and a little less intimidating. I’ll teach you not only the basics but also how to sidestep some of the beginner pitfalls I stumbled through myself.

Through Fermenting with Felecia, I’m here to empower you to create delicious, gut-healthy ferments you’ll be proud to share with family and friends—or just keep for yourself (no judgment!). Whether you’re crafting your first sourdough starter or experimenting with your favorite veggies, I’ll be cheering you on every step of the way.

Something Personal

Okay, great, but who is this girl, right? (Spoiler alert: age is just a number, or so they tell me!) Here’s the scoop: I’m still playing in the kitchen daily, whipping up meals for my husband—“The Hubs,” aka Clark—my mom, who’s in her fabulous 80s and lives with us, and our four-legged foodie, Mr. Mac, who’s on a no-grain diet but never turns down a bite of my kitchen experiments.

We live in the hills of North Central Idaho on the beautiful Clearwater River. It’s our very own little Hallmark town, complete with postcard-worthy views and a pace of life that feels downright magical. It’s the kind of place that inspires creativity, whether it’s fermenting veggies or dreaming up the next great recipe.
